Position: Product Specialist – Food Division
Location: South Hackensack, New Jersey
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing in the Food Division. The Product Specialist will be responsible for the introduction of newly developed food analysis products from Germany to the North American market. The scopes of responsibilities include specialized technical and sales training; dissemination of marketing and application knowledge, as well as product specific service information with respect to food instrumentation products manufactured by Brabender GmbH and Co. KG in Duisburg, Germany. The position will directly interface with similar global efforts being conducted from Germany.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement necessary training and support to the food division’s products, sales and service personnel and North American clients
- Introduce new product technology and applications to the market place
- Assess product strengths and weaknesses in their usage industries
- Lead project teams
- Provide marketing feedback with regard to food analysis instrumentation
- Manage key account initiatives
- Conduct product seminars and product launches
- Implement inter-company exchange of technical product information
- Influence the direction of instrumentation advancements with respect to needs in the North American market
- Interface with Brabender GmbH on specialized client projects and requests
- Report risk assessments regarding changes in product acceptance
- Analyze existing product test methods and report opportunities for improvements
- Provide technical input for product R&D, new product development and analysis, as well as perform testing as required for the evaluation of new products and accessories.
- Responsible for the laboratory demonstration facility and performing instrument demonstrations for potential business in key markets or accounts.
- Analyze customer submitted samples and provide written and verbal reports of results to customers and field sales. Detailing product/sales solutions for each customer’s specific application.
- Attend trade shows and technical symposia; present papers.
Position Requirements:
- A four (4) year technical degree or higher; specific to Grain and Bakery Science, or a related Food Science field
- Excellent knowledge of Brabender products and applications of technology in the bakery and grain sciences
- Strong US communication and business skills, additionally the ability to speak German would be considered a plus
- Results driven individual with the ability to motivate people in a highly competitive business environment and within a global organization
- Proven presentation and influencing skills
- An understanding of the sales process and the role of technical and application support
- Ability to deal with a broad range of customers (from Professor to Lab Assistant) and to transfer knowledge at these different levels
- A customer focused business philosophy
- Strong laboratory and analysis skills
- Ability and willingness to travel (25%) including full weeks
